Fannie Duff Obituary

Thanks to Aunt Jean for sending this to us! She also included this note: "This was quite a write up. Imagine anyone putting all the details in an obit today! I didn't know your Mother's name ( in English) was Anna, Faga. How I wish we had the opportunity to know her or had learned more about her . My mother told me the hobos used to come around because she would feed them so I guess they passed the word around. We know she was quite a seamstress and that certainly got passed down to my Mother. Faga, maybe you have more stories about her. I guess she died around 1919. How hard it was on the four girls to grow up without her."

          MRS. DUFF IS WIDELY MOURNED

The funeral of Mrs. Fannie Duff, aged 46 years, wife of Abraham Duff, a

prominent local business man, was held from her late residence in West Main

Street, Sunday noon, and was largely attended by relatives and friends. Mrs.

Duff had been I'll only two weeks. Suffering with a severe headache she grew

worse on Friday morning and the end came at 10:30 A.M., following a

Hemmorage.

Mrs. Duff, who resided here a good many years, made many friends. She was a

devoted wife and mother to her husband and five children who survive her. Her

death is a particularly sad one, because of the almost indispensable place she

occupied in their lives and they have the sympathy of the community in their

great loss.

Throughout life Mrs. Duff has been deeply devoted to home duties and her sweet

and patient disposition and many sterling qualities made her respected and

beloved by all who knew her.

Besides her husband she is survived by one son, Nathan, who is a student at

Rutgers College, New Brunswick, and four daughters, the Misses Florence'

Bessie,Anna and Mary Duff.

Interment was in the family plot in the Hebrew Fraternity Cemetery at

Hopelawn, Sunday afternoon.
